Though light is pouring in,
darkness continues to surround me.
I still taste death on my tongue.
I still see her hand reaching out to me, so inviting.
I ask her why she couldn't just take me.
She points at the balls of fur
cradled up against me at the foot of the bed.
She points at the light-soaked tub
containing my reptilic pride and joy.
She points at the arm tightly wrapped around my cool body,
which belongs to the light of my life.
She points at me.
I feel a warm light surround my face.
I am human.
